Outdoor Adventures on Florida’s Historic Coast
Embark on an exhilarating journey through Florida’s Historic Coast with a four-day outdoor adventure itinerary.
Day One
Start the day climbing to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse to get a view from above of the beautiful coastal region surrounding the Nation’s oldest city. Challenge yourself with a timed pace up the 219 steps.
Zip over live Crocs and gators at The Crocodile Crossing at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. This thrilling experience over seven acres has two challenging courses, where participants can see live alligators and crocodiles, tropical birds at eye level, and red-ruffed lemurs nearly at arm’s length.
Enjoy dining al fresco at Catch 27.
Day Two
Line and Dine!
Get out on the water with one of the area’s expert fishing guides to try your hand at fishing. There are a variety of charters and guides who know these waters like the backs of their hands and can point you in the right direction along the shoreline and its numerous nooks and “honey holes” where lunkers might be lurking.
After a day of fishing with a guide, bring your fish to have a chef prepare your catch to share with friends and family. Several restaurants on Florida’s Historic Coast offer catch-and-cook experiences, including Aunt Kate’s, Kingfish Grill, St. Augustine Fish Camp, Palm Valley Fish Camp, The Floridian and the Conch House Marina Resort Restaurant. Prior arrangements are required.
Day Three
Spend the day discovering adventure with natural wonders.
In the morning, enjoy an authentic Old Florida experience paddling the creeks and tributaries of the St. Johns River with Earth Kinship. Or if you like to speed things up, take an airboat Tour on the St. Johns River with Sea Serpent Tours.
Later in the day, visit Anastasia State Park to take sail on the Aqua Finn sailboats at Anastasia Water Sports. There are also kayaks and paddleboards available to explore Salt Run.
Or experience a night paddle with Geotrippin' Adventure Company; if the conditions are right you may have a chance at seeing the bioluminescence.
Day Four
Surfs Up! With 42 Miles of oceanfront, there are plenty of water sports and adventures to experience.
Sign up for a morning surf lesson and equipment rental with PIT Surf Shop.
Enjoy a yummy lunch from the sea at Salt Life Food Shack.
Take a break from the heat in the afternoon and visit the St. Augustine Surf Culture & History Museum located at the Oldest House Complex in St. Augustine. From soul surfers to local legends to shapers and surf shop owners, the museum reflects the history of surfing in the United States.
