Tour local art galleries on the first Friday of every month!
Traveling to St. Augustine the first weekend of the month? Be sure to arrive on Friday, and don’t miss First Friday Art Walks in the Nation's Oldest City.
The first Friday of every month, almost 30 galleries in St. Augustine open their doors to the public, welcoming all to pop in and peruse. First Friday Art Walks take place from 5 to 9 p.m. and are St. Augustine’s most popular cultural event.
Whether serious art collectors or just browsing, gallery owners invite visitors strolling St. Augustine’s brick-lined streets to check out their exhibits and take part in artist receptions complete with refreshments, live entertainment and objets des artes ranging from fine photography to funky gifts – all available to view or purchase.
The best part? It’s all free, and most galleries are within walking distance of one another. Parking is also free after 5 p.m. at many locations downtown, except the Historic Parking Garage. Plus, complimentary shuttles are provided by Old Town Trolleys from 6-9 p.m. from in front of Butterfield Garage and ArtBox, the Lightner Museum, Aviles Street, as well as in front of Bold ArtGallery near Hypolita Street. First Friday Art Walks happen rain or shine, and the event continues with plenty to experience afterwards at nearby local restaurants, attractions, and pubs.
Plaza de la Constitucion divides the galleries into four convenient art districts: North of the Plaza, South of the Plaza, West of the Plaza and East of Downtown. To start your self-guided tour, pick up a map at a participating gallery or download it ahead of time. For more information, call (904) 824-2310.
